The Dolpo Cultural Trek is a 16-day moderate-grade cultural trek exploring the unique Bon (pre-Buddhist) and Tibetan-Buddhist culture of Nepal’s Dolpo region. Unlike our harder Dolpo treks that cross high passes, this route stays below 4,000m and focuses on cultural immersion – visiting ancient monasteries, traditional Dolpo villages, sacred pilgrimage sites, and the dramatic Phoksundo Lake. The trek begins with flights to Juphal, then follows the Thuli Bheri river to the sacred Phoksundo Lake, with side trips to traditional villages, ancient monasteries, and Bon religious sites. The maximum altitude of 3,640m at Phoksundo Lake is moderate and accessible to most fit trekkers.

Highlights

  • Visit the sacred Phoksundo Lake (3,640m), Nepal's deepest alpine lake.
  • Experience the unique Bon (pre-Buddhist) religious traditions of Dolpo.
  • Visit ancient Tibetan-Buddhist monasteries including Ringmo and Pugmo.
  • Walk through traditional Dolpo villages unchanged for centuries.
  • Moderate altitude (max 3,640m) accessible to most fit trekkers.
