Chulu West (6,419m / 21,059 ft) is a trekking peak in the Annapurna range, located north-west of 索龙菲迪 in the 马南 district of north-central Nepal. The peak lies at approximately 28 degrees 41 minutes north latitude and 84 degrees 02 minutes east longitude, separated from Chulu East by the Chulu Khola valley. Chulu West was first climbed in 1955 by a German expedition. The Nepal Mountaineering Association classifies it as a Group A trekking peak, but it is significantly more technical than nearby Chulu East.The standard route climbs the north-west ridge, with Base Camp at approximately 4,800m on a high moraine shelf above the Chulu Khola. The route then climbs a glacier to a High Camp at around 5,600m, followed by a steep 50-60 degree ice slope on the upper mountain. The final 200m to the summit involves sustained ice climbing with fixed ropes, with the summit ridge itself narrow and corniced in places. The technical difficulty is rated AD- on the Alpine grading system, significantly harder than Chulu East.Chulu West is for climbers with previous mountaineering experience, including ice climbing and the ability to ascend fixed ropes confidently. The rewards at the summit are exceptional: a 360-degree panorama including Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, the entire Dhaulagiri range, and the distant Tibetan plateau. The mountain is significantly less crowded than other Annapurna peaks due to its technical nature.The approach follows the Annapurna Circuit to Thorong Phedi, the last camp before the famous 索隆拉 (5,416m) crossing. From Thorong Phedi, climbers branch north-west into the Chulu Khola valley to reach Base Camp. The region is culturally Tibetan Buddhist, with traditional Manangi villages, ancient gompas, and prayer walls along the trail. The best climbing seasons are spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November).

Full day of climbing training at Base Camp. Practice glacier travel, fixed-rope ascension with jumars, ice climbing technique, and crevasse rescue. Pack and prepare for the High Camp carry.

Buffer Day for Summit

Buffer day reserved for weather or acclimatization. If the summit was achieved on Day 14, descend to 索龙菲迪. If summit was postponed, attempt again today.
