Dhampus Peak (6,012m / 19,724 ft), also known as Thapa Peak, is a trekking peak in the Dhaulagiri region of north-central Nepal, located between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massifs. The peak lies at approximately 28 degrees 24 minutes north latitude and 83 degrees 42 minutes east longitude, in the Mustang district of north-central Nepal, near the village of Marpha in the Kali Gandaki valley. The Nepal Mountaineering Association classifies Dhampus Peak as a Group B trekking peak.The standard route climbs the north-east ridge, with Base Camp at approximately 5,000m on a high yak pasture above Marpha and a High Camp at around 5,400m. The summit push involves climbing straightforward 30-40 degree snow slopes on the upper mountain, with no technical rock or ice climbing required. The technical difficulty is rated PD- on the Alpine grading system, similar to Yala Peak. Crampons and ice axe are required, but ropes are typically only used as handrails on the final summit slope.Dhampus Peak is one of the most scenic climbing peaks in Nepal due to its location between two 8,000m ranges. The summit offers simultaneous views of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), the world seventh-highest mountain, and the entire Annapurna range, including Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,937m), and Annapurna South (7,219m). The mountain also offers views of Nilgiri (7,061m), Tukuche Peak (6,920m), and the dramatic Kali Gandaki gorge, the deepest gorge in the world.The approach follows the classic Annapurna Circuit route through the Kali Gandaki valley, with a flight to Jomsom and a short trek to Marpha. The region is culturally Tibetan Buddhist Thakali homeland, with traditional apple orchards, ancient gompas, and the famous Marpha apple brandy. The best climbing seasons are spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November). Dhampus Peak is one of the easiest 6,000m peaks in Nepal and is often climbed as a first climbing peak for trekkers transitioning to mountaineering.

Day 02 :

Fly to Pokhara

Morning flight from 카트만두 ...하기 위해 Pokhara. Afternoon free to explore Phewa Lake and prepare for the Jomsom flight.

Day 03 :

Fly to Jomsom & Trek to Marpha

Early morning scenic flight from Pokhara ...하기 위해 Jomsom (2,743m), between Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. Short 2-hour trek down the Kali Gandaki valley to the apple-growing village of Marpha.

Day 04 :

Acclimatization in Marpha

Full acclimatization day in Marpha. Optional hike to the Marpha monastery and apple brandy distillery. Afternoon equipment check and climbing briefing.

Day 05 :

Trek to Yak Kharka

Climb north-eastward from Marpha through sparse forest and alpine meadows to reach Yak Kharka, a high yak pasture at 3,800m. First close views of Dhaulagiri.

Day 06 :

Trek to Dhampus Peak Base Camp

Continue climbing above the tree line to reach Base Camp at 5,000m on a broad shelf below the north-east ridge. Establish camp with full kitchen service.

Day 07 :

Acclimatization & Climbing Training at Base Camp

Full day of acclimatization and climbing training at Base Camp. Practice crampon technique, ice-axe arrest, rope travel, and self-arrest. Pack and prepare for the High Camp carry.

Day 08 :

Trek to High Camp

Climb 400m over scree and snow slopes to reach the High Camp at 5,400m. Establish tents and prepare for the summit push.

Day 09 :

Summit Dhampus Peak & Descend to Base Camp

Pre-dawn start at 3 AM. Climb the north-east ridge on straightforward 30-40 degree snow slopes, reaching the 6,012m summit. Spectacular simultaneous views of Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and the entire Annapurna range. Descend to Base Camp for celebration.

Day 10 :

Buffer Day for Summit

Buffer day reserved for weather or acclimatization. If the summit was achieved on Day 9, descend to Yak Kharka. If summit was postponed, attempt again today.

Day 11 :

Trek to Kalopani

Descend from Base Camp back to Yak Kharka, then continue down through Marpha to Kalopani with dramatic views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri.

Day 12 :

Trek to Tatopani

Continue descending the Kali Gandaki valley to Tatopani (hot springs) for a well-deserved soak.

Day 13 :

Trek to Sikha

Begin the climb out of the Kali Gandaki valley through forest and terraced hillsides to the village of Sikha.

Day 14 :

Trek to Ghorepani

Continue climbing through rhododendron forest to the village of Ghorepani, the base for the famous Poon Hill sunrise viewpoint.

Day 15 :

Sunrise at Poon Hill & Trek to Tadapani

Pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill (3,210m) for sunrise over Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. After breakfast, trek through rhododendron forest to Tadapani.

Day 16 :

Trek to Ghandruk & Drive to Pokhara

Descend through Ghandruk ...하기 위해 Nayapul, then jeep drive back to Pokhara. Afternoon free to explore Phewa Lake.

Day 17 :

Drive to Kathmandu

6-hour scenic drive back to 카트만두 (or optional flight). Check in to hotel and evening farewell dinner.

Day 18 :

Final Departure

Private vehicle transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight.

Insurance Requirement

Travel insurance is mandatory for all our treks and tours. Your insurance must cover trekking to 6012m altitude (for treks), emergency helicopter evacuation up to USD 10,000, emergency medical treatment, and trip cancellation. Cultural Etiquette

Dress modestly at religious sites (cover shoulders and knees). Remove shoes before entering temple sanctums. Walk clockwise around stupas and chortens. Ask permission before photographing people. Use your right hand for eating and passing items. Say namaste (palms together) as a greeting.
