The Bhote Koshi Rafting trip is a 2-day high-adrenaline white water rafting adventure on Nepal’s steepest and most challenging commercial rafting river. Originating near the Tibet border, the Bhote Koshi drops continuously through a narrow gorge with rapids rated Class IV-V including ‘Frog in a Blender,’ ‘John’s Walk,’ and ‘The Great Wall.’ The river is for experienced rafters or adventurous first-timers in good physical condition. The 2-day trip includes rafting both days, overnight at a comfortable riverside resort, all meals, and return transport to Kathmandu. The river runs high in summer (June-August) creating the most challenging conditions, and lower in spring and autumn offering technical runs.

Altitude Safety

Maximum altitude is 2700m. Above 3,500m, altitude sickness is a real risk. Our itinerary includes acclimatization days, guides carry pulse oximeters and emergency oxygen. Walk slowly, stay hydrated (3-4 liters daily), avoid alcohol above 3,500m, report symptoms immediately. Travel insurance covering helicopter evacuation is mandatory.

Cultural Etiquette

Dress modestly at religious sites (cover shoulders and knees). Remove shoes before entering temple sanctums. Walk clockwise around stupas and chortens. Ask permission before photographing people. Use your right hand for eating and passing items. Say namaste (palms together) as a greeting.
