그만큼 Darchula Trek is an 12-day moderate trek through Nepal’s far western Darchula district, located along the Mahakali river that forms the border with India. The trek begins with flights to Dhangadhi and a long jeep ride to Darchula town, then walks through traditional Chhetri and Brahmin villages, terraced hillsides, and dramatic gorges with views of the Api Nampa mountain range. The region is one of Nepal’s least-visited trekking destinations, offering genuine wilderness and authentic cultural experiences. The maximum altitude of 2,600m is moderate and accessible to most fit trekkers.

Morning flight to Dhangadhi, then 6-hour jeep ride to Dadeldhura.

Day 03 :

Drive to Darchula

8-hour scenic jeep ride through the far-western hills to Darchula.

Day 04 :

Trek to Gokuleshwor

Begin trekking along the Mahakali river to the temple town of Gokuleshwor.

Day 05 :

Trek to Sirkot

Continue climbing through terraced hillsides.

Day 06 :

Trek to Khar

Reach the highest point with views of Api Himal.

Day 07 :

Trek to Rithakop

Begin the descent.

Day 08 :

Trek to Gokuleshwor

Continue descending.

Day 09 :

Trek to Darchula

Final trekking day back to Darchula. Celebration dinner.

Day 10 :

Drive to Dhangadhi

Long jeep ride back to Dhangadhi.

Day 11 :

Fly to Kathmandu

Morning flight to 카트만두. Evening free for souvenir shopping and rest. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 12 :

Final Departure

Altitude Safety

Maximum altitude is 2600m. Above 3,500m, altitude sickness is a real risk. Our itinerary includes acclimatization days, guides carry pulse oximeters and emergency oxygen. Walk slowly, stay hydrated (3-4 liters daily), avoid alcohol above 3,500m, report symptoms immediately. Travel insurance covering helicopter evacuation is mandatory.

Insurance Requirement

Travel insurance is mandatory for all our treks and tours. Your insurance must cover trekking to 2600m altitude (for treks), emergency helicopter evacuation up to USD 10,000, emergency medical treatment, and trip cancellation. Cultural Etiquette

Dress modestly at religious sites (cover shoulders and knees). Remove shoes before entering temple sanctums. Walk clockwise around stupas and chortens. Ask permission before photographing people. Use your right hand for eating and passing items. Say namaste (palms together) as a greeting.

When is the best time to do the Darchula Trek?

Is altitude sickness a risk and how do I prevent it?

Above 3,500m, altitude sickness (AMS) affects 25-40% of trekkers. Our itinerary includes acclimatization days, guides carry pulse oximeters and emergency oxygen, and they are trained to identify early symptoms. Prevention: ascend slowly (no more than 300-500m sleeping altitude per day above 3,500m), drink 3-4 liters of water daily, avoid alcohol above 3,500m, eat light meals, and report any symptoms immediately. Travel insurance covering helicopter evacuation (USD 10,000) is mandatory.
