The Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve Trek runs 9 to 14 days from Burtibang in Baglung district through the 1,325 sq km hunting reserve. The route crosses the Bhuji Khola valley, the Dhorpatan basin, and the Bagar Danda ridge at 3,700 m. The reserve is the only place in Nepal where regulated trophy hunting of blue sheep and Himalayan tahr is permitted, but the trek is open to non hunters.
Lodge infrastructure is the weakest of any trek in west Nepal. Dhorpatan town at 2,850 m has two community lodges run by the Dhorpatan Eco Tourism Committee. The lodges have 6 to 8 rooms with shared bathroom. Bobang at 1,700 m has one community lodge. Other nights are camping or homestays in Chhantung and Muna villages.
The food menu is simple. Dal bhat twice daily, with noodles, fried potatoes, momos, and seasonal vegetables. Meat is rare and usually only in Dhorpatan town. Trekkers with dietary restrictions should carry their own snacks and protein bars.
