Above 3,500m, altitude sickness (AMS) affects 25-40% of trekkers. Our itinerary includes acclimatization days, guides carry pulse oximeters and emergency oxygen, and they are trained to identify early symptoms. Prevention: ascend slowly (no more than 300-500m sleeping altitude per day above 3,500m), drink 3-4 liters of water daily, avoid alcohol above 3,500m, eat light meals, and report any symptoms immediately. Lobuche West (6,145m / 20,158 ft) is a trekking peak in the Khumbu region of north-east Nepal, located immediately west of Lobuche village on the main Everest Base Camp trail. The peak lies at approximately 27 degrees 58 minutes north latitude and 86 degrees 47 minutes east longitude, in the Sagarmatha National Park. Lobuche actually consists of two distinct summits: Lobuche East (6,119m), which is a popular commercial trekking peak, and Lobuche West (6,145m), which is significantly more technical and rarely climbed. The Nepal Mountaineering Association classifies both as Group A trekking peaks.Lobuche West is considerably more demanding than Lobuche East due to the steep, sustained ice slopes on the upper mountain and the more exposed summit ridge. The standard route climbs the south-west face, with Base Camp at approximately 4,950m near Lobuche village. The route then climbs a glacier to a High Camp at around 5,400m, followed by 50-60 degree ice slopes and a narrow exposed summit ridge. The technical difficulty is rated AD on the Alpine grading system, similar to Chulu West.The mountain is for climbers with previous mountaineering experience, including ice climbing and the ability to ascend fixed ropes confidently. The rewards at the summit are exceptional: a 360-degree panorama including Everest (8,849m), Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861m), Pumori (7,161m), Changtse, and the Khumbu Glacier stretching below. The summit is also one of the best viewpoints for the iconic Khumbu Icefall and Everest Base Camp.The approach follows the classic Everest Base Camp trekking route from Lukla through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche, with two acclimatization days at Namche (3,440m) and Dingboche (4,410m). The region is culturally Tibetan Buddhist Sherpa homeland, with traditional villages, ancient monasteries at Tengboche and Pangboche, and prayer walls along the trail. The best climbing seasons are spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November).

Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport with private vehicle transfer to your hotel in Thamel. Evening welcome dinner and trek briefing with the climbing guide.

Day 02 :

Fly to Lukla & Trek to Phakding

Morning scenic flight to Lukla (2,840m). Begin trekking 3-4 hours along the Dudh Koshi River through pine forest, crossing suspension bridges to reach Phakding.

Day 03 :

Trek to Namche Bazaar

Cross several suspension bridges including the famous Hillary Bridge and climb through pine forest to Namche Bazaar. First views of Everest and Lhotse on the descent into Namche.

Day 04 :

Acclimatization in Namche

Full acclimatization day with hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880m) for panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Visit the Sherpa Museum and local market.

Day 05 :

Trek to Tengboche

Trek to Tengboche with its famous monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region. Afternoon chanting ceremony with resident monks. Sunset views of Ama Dablam.

Day 06 :

Trek to Dingboche

Continue through Pangboche to Dingboche in the Imja Tse valley. Afternoon acclimatization hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,083m) optional.

Day 07 :

Acclimatization in Dingboche

Second acclimatization day with optional hike to Chhukung (4,730m) or Nangkartshang Peak (5,083m) for views of Makalu, the world fifth-highest mountain.

Day 08 :

Trek to Lobuche

Climb to Thukla Pass (4,830m) with memorial cairns to fallen climbers, then continue along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche village.

Day 09 :

Trek to Lobuche West Base Camp

Short climb from Lobuche village to establish Base Camp at 4,950m on a shelf below the south-west face of Lobuche West. Afternoon rest and acclimatization.

Day 10 :

Climbing Training at Base Camp

Full day of climbing training at Base Camp. Practice glacier travel, fixed-rope ascension with jumars, ice climbing technique, and crevasse rescue. Pack and prepare for the High Camp carry.

Day 11 :

Trek to High Camp

Climb over moraine and glacier to reach the High Camp at 5,400m on the south-west face. Establish tents and prepare for the summit push.

Day 12 :

Summit Lobuche West & Descend to Base Camp

Pre-dawn start at 1 AM. Climb the glacier and 50-60 degree ice slopes on fixed ropes, traversing the narrow exposed summit ridge to the 6,145m summit. Spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori. Descend to Base Camp for celebration.

Day 13 :

Buffer Day for Summit

Buffer day reserved for weather or acclimatization. If the summit was achieved on Day 12, descend to Pheriche. If summit was postponed, attempt again today.

Day 14 :

Trek to Pangboche

Descend from Lobuche through Thukla Pass back to Dingboche, then continue down to Pangboche with its famous 400-year-old monastery and Yeti scalp relic.

Day 15 :

Trek to Namche Bazaar

Continue descending through Tengboche and Phunki Tenga back to Namche Bazaar for hot showers and bakery treats.

Day 16 :

Trek to Lukla

Final trekking day retracing the route through Monjo, Benkar, and Phakding back to Lukla. Celebration dinner with the climbing crew.

Day 17 :

Fly to Kathmandu

Morning scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. Check in to hotel and evening farewell dinner.

Day 18 :

Final Departure

Private vehicle transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight.

Cultural Etiquette

Dress modestly at religious sites (cover shoulders and knees). Remove shoes before entering temple sanctums. Walk clockwise around stupas and chortens. Ask permission before photographing people. Use your right hand for eating and passing items. Say namaste (palms together) as a greeting.
