The Api Himal Base Camp Trek is a 14-day hard-grade wilderness trek to the base of Api Himal (7,132m), Nepal’s westernmost 7,000m peak, located in the far west Api Nampa Conservation Area. The trek begins with flights to Darchula, then climbs through traditional Gurung, Chhetri, and Brahmin villages, dense rhododendron forest, and alpine meadows to reach Api Himal Base Camp at 4,000m. The region sees fewer than 100 foreign trekkers per year, making it one of Nepal’s most pristine wilderness destinations. The trek offers views of Api Himal, Nampa Peak, and the dramatic far-western Himalayan range, plus rich cultural immersion in villages that have changed little in centuries.
