Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is one of the quietest moderate treks in Nepal, with annual footfall under 600 trekkers versus more than 60,000 on the Annapurna Circuit. You trade teahouse density and road access for wildlife, solitude, and ridge walking between 2,850 and 3,700 m. Dhorpatan costs $780 to $1,250 per person in 2027 to 2030, about 30 percent less than a comparable Annapurna Circuit package.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dhorpatan wins on cost because permits are cheaper and teahouse meals are simpler. Annapurna wins on logistics because shared buses cut the transport line item by more than half.<\/p>\n

Road condition is the second factor. The Burtibang to Dhorpatan road is seasonal and can wash out in monsoon, adding a day of walking or a tractor transfer. Choose Dhorpatan for wildlife at moderate altitude, Kanchenjunga for big peaks and high passes, Nar Phu for restricted area culture with comfort, and Api Nampa for true wilderness camping.<\/p>\n
