Can a Solo Traveler Join a Group for Upper Mustang or Dolpo Restricted-Area Permits?

Solo travelers cannot get Upper Mustang or Upper Dolpo restricted area permits alone. Nepal immigration requires a minimum of 2 trekkers with a licensed guide for both regions. The fix is joining a fixed group departure through a Kathmandu agency. Upper Mustang departures run weekly from May to September for USD 2,800 to USD 4,200 per person for 14 to 18 days. Upper Dolpo departures run monthly from June to September for USD 4,200 to USD 6,500 per person for 24 to 32 days. Solo joiners pay a USD 200 to USD 400 single supplement.
